Two were arrested on auto theft and meth charges after stealing a motorcycle

BEDFORD – Two people were arrested on Tuesday, December 27,  after an investigation by the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section.

During the early morning hours of that day, troopers received information that a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle was stolen from the area of State Road 446 and Henderson Creek Road.

Using electronic surveillance troopers were able to track the stolen motorcycle to 306 R Street in Bedford. While conducting surveillance on the residence a trooper witnessed a gray Chevrolet truck pull into the driveway in the alley. The vehicle had an altered plate and as the trooper drove near the vehicle, the driver fled the vehicle. The driver left the ignition on and the door open. While the trooper was waiting on back up the trooper was approached by a female 39-year-old Melissa Andis who lived at the home.

Andis initially lied and stated she did not know whose vehicle was in her driveway. Andis told several lies, and the trooper finally confronted her about those lies. Andis then admitted the truck belonged to her “on again and off again” boyfriend of 11 years, 43-year-old Jeremy Gulley.

Jeremy Gulley

There was a toolbox in the rear of the truck with the name “Gulley” and also a catalytic converter in the bed of the truck. The trooper also saw a neck brace in the front seat and knew Gulley had recently had a vehicle accident where he had broken his neck. Andis was not cooperative and indicated she knew nothing about a stolen motorcycle.

The trooper reviewed surveillance footage from the Heltonville store from December 21st and December  22nd. On December 21st at 8:44 p.m. Jeremy Gulley stopped and purchased $20 in fuel. Gulley was driving the same gray Chevrolet truck. At approximately 4:30 a.m. the same Chevrolet truck can be seen passing the store with the green stolen motorcycle in the back. The truck was being followed by a red Impala. ISP then reviewed the surveillance footage at Lentz’s gas station at Lincoln Avenue and 4th Street and you can again see the gray Chevrolet with the stolen motorcycle in the back. The red Impala was still following the truck. Driving the red Impala was Melissa Andis.

Andis admitted she followed Gully to Henderson Creek Road and 446 where Gully and another male loaded and stole the motorcycle. Andis then followed Gulley back to town with the motorcycle. Andis indicated she was there to assist and follow Gulley because his plates were altered.

On December 27th a trooper was working surveillance at 38 Diamond Road in Heltonville and located the red Impala at the address. The trooper witnessed Gulley, who had a suspended driver’s license, enter the driver’s seat and Andis enter the passenger seat and leave.

Andis was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

She then reached into her pants and pulled out a plastic bag containing 3 grams of meth.

While on the scene Gulley admitted to stealing the motorcycle saying they had cut the GPS tracking on the bike and hid it behind a friend’s garage.

Andis and Gulley were arrested on charges of auto theft and possession of meth. Both Andis and Gulley were also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
