Violation of a protective order leads to arrest of intoxicated man

MITCHELL – A Mitchell man was arrested on Wednesday, December 7th after Mitchell Police officers were called to the 300 block of North 6th Street after a report of a protective order violation.

When police arrived a male told police he witnessed the violation. They found a female sitting on the front porch. She told police when she arrived home she found 56-year-old Kenneth Banks standing on the sidewalk in front of her home.

The woman said Banks asked her for a ride and a cigarette. The woman told Banks to get away from her. She then walked into her home and called the police.

The encounter was also captured on a home security video.

Officers went to Heartbreak Hotel to locate Banks. They found Banks in the common area of the hotel. Police say Banks was intoxicated. In his hand, he held an empty bottle of Fireball whiskey.

Banks was detained. He was taken to jail on charges of invasion of privacy and public intoxication.
