Obituary: Carolyn Jean Sproles

3/15/42 – 12/2/22

Carolyn Jean (Taylor) Sproles, 80, of Bedford, went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2022. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home.

She was born March 15, 1942, in French Lick, Indiana to Lee Roy and Lorena Mae (Nelson) Taylor, who both preceded her in death. She married James H. Sproles on Sept 2, 1961, after a short 4-month courtship. They celebrated 58 wonderful years together. Jim preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2019.

Carolyn worked at Ford Motor Company and retired in April 2004 after 21 years of service from the newly purchased Visteon. She loved spending time with her family, attending local car shows, and traveling.

Survivors include her son James Scott Sproles and wife Denise (King) of Oolitic. Two granddaughters Sydney Mae Reynolds (Alex) and Daphney Ann Sproles both of Oolitic who were her pride and joy. A sister Mirmimam Lee Hardin of French Lick. Sister-in-Laws Judy Hamilton of Oolitic, Deanna (Jerry) Pemberton of Mitchell, and Debbie Kinder of Shoals. Also brother-in-law Donnie (Belinda) Boling of New Castle, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a grandson Jared Scott Sproles in 2003 and an infant sister Faye Marie Taylor in 1944. An Aunt Geraldine Nelson Poynter, who was raised in her home. Grandparents John H. and Etta Alice (Gilliatt) Taylor, Myron, and Nannie Belle (Wininger) Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 6th at Cresthaven Funeral Home, with Pastor Valarie Foughty-Killion officiating. Visitation is from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford.
