Washington police arrest Vincennes man after finding drugs during traffic stop

WASHINGTON – Late Friday night around 10:30 p.m., an Officer with the Washington Police Department conducted a traffic stop on East National Highway near Meridian Street for a traffic infraction.

During the stop, a deputy with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and his K9 partner Focus responded to assist. After a positive alert by Focus for the presence of the odor of illegal narcotics, a search of the vehicle was conducted.

Officers reported locating approximately 12 pounds of marijuana and approximately 124 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms.

The driver, 35-year-old Sean Monroe of Vincennes, was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of a Schedule I controlled substance. He is currently being held without bond.
