Springville man harasses a neighbor and violates a protective order that leads to his arrest

SPRINGVILLE – A Springville man was arrested Friday on a charge of invasion of privacy after violating a protective order.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on October 29, 2022, Lawrence County Central Dispatch received a call from the 1000 block of Steve Earl Road reporting 44-year-old Brandon Godsey was intentionally speeding up and braking suddenly in front of the caller’s home.

Brandon Godsey

The owner of the home told police Godsey had intentionally sped by the caller’s home three separate times within an hour causing large rocks from the roadway to be launched into the caller’s yard. He told police Godsey was intentionally doing this to harass the caller and his family.

The caller has an active protective order on file against Godsey.

A neighbor told police he had received text messages from Godsey stating that the caller was a liar and he had cost Godsey a lot of money and he would not forget this. The neighbor has also allegedly witnessed Godsey’s driving behavior.

While speaking with the caller and the neighbor, the officer saw Godsey driving down the road at a high rate of speed and then slowing down as he passed the police car.

The officer then went to speak to Godsey at his home in the 1000 block of Steve Earl Road. At first, Godsey denied the allegations. He then admitted that he may have driven too fast. He then said the caller was a liar and that he cost him thousands of dollars.

A copy of the protective order, photos of Godsey driving erratically in front of the caller’s home, and the text messages sent to the neighbor were forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Godsey’s arrest.
