Woman arrested after police find meth in her purse

BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested on Saturday, November 5th after a traffic stop for failing to wear her seatbelt and failing to use her turn signal.

Kia Cox

The female driver 29-year-old Kia Cox was stopped near 18th and J street.

Cox was nervous and would avoid eye contact with the officer.

Cox was asked to step out of the vehicle and she grabbed her purse while doing so.

She claimed there was nothing illegal in her vehicle but denied consent to search her vehicle.

The officer ordered Cox to place her purse back in the vehicle.

Canine Zazu conducted a free air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle. Zazu gave a primary alert to the odor of narcotics in the vehicle.

In Cox’s purse officers found five pocket knives, a small dagger, and crystal meth.

Cox was detained on a charge of possession of meth.

Bland’s Wrecker Service towed the vehicle.
