Man sentenced to 48 years in prison on child molestation charges

BROWNSTOWN – A former Seymour man received a 48-year prison sentence after a jury found him guilty of three felony charges of child molesting, incest, and sexual misconduct.

Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Richard Poynter sentenced 43-year-old Jason Hankins, of Henryville, on November 2, 2022, to 38 years on a Level 1 felony charge of child molesting and 10 years on the charge of incest, a Level 4 felony. That sentencing will be served consecutively with a 10 year on the charges of sexual misconduct with a minor, a Level 4 felony for a total of 48 years.

Hankins was arrested in March 2020 after Seymour Police Department began investigating a report of child molestation.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the investigation uncovered several incidents involving a child and Hankins over a number of years.

A warrant was issued for Hankins’ arrested.
