Obituary: Marilyn Ann (Staley) Heady

October 15, 1942 – November 6, 2022

Marilyn Ann (Staley) Heady, 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, November 6th at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born October 15, 1942 to Gilbert and Maxine (Hubbard) Staley. 

She was an excellent bowler, an avid softball player, and very active in volunteering at the Bedford Boat Club. She spent many years involved in adopt-a-family activities for Christmas. She and her husband Loren thoroughly enjoyed hosting a family and friends 4th of July Celebration at her home for over 50 years. She also helped raise her four younger siblings (with the help of her older brother Raymond) after their mother passed away in 1963. 

She is survived by: her sons, Ron (Wynne) Deckard of Martinsville; Bill (Leisa) Deckard, James (Debbie) Deckard, and Michael Heady, all of Bedford; sisters Janelle (Jim) Evans of Orlando, Florida, Nancy (Dana) Stuckey of Fairway, Kansas, and Jim (Kathy) Staley of Oolitic; 19 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends who loved her dearly. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Loren E. Heady; daughter Debra Butler; son Troy Heady; sister Sonia Young; and two brothers Raymond and Tim Staley.

Cremation was chosen with a private memorial service being arranged.
