Indiana Homeowner Assistance provides free mortgage foreclosure counseling

INDIANA – The Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network (IFPN) was established to provide free mortgage foreclosure counseling and education to homeowners who have defaulted on or are in danger of defaulting on the mortgages on their homes.

The IFPN is supported by nine U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Certified Network Agencies. Agencies work with homeowners to develop a comprehensive and individualized home retention or exit plan. In addition to working with the borrower, the agency serves as a liaison between the borrower and their lender.

Since 2011, IFPN has offered free counseling services to more than 15,000 households in the state of Indiana. All the current IFPN agencies were instrumental in assisting IHCDA with providing $250 million of Hardest Hit Fund assistance to Hoosier homeowners between 2011 and 2021.

In March 2022, IHCDA launched the Indiana Homeowner Assistance Fund (IHAF) program. Network agencies have provided counseling to over 6,000 homeowners under IHAF. Homeowners can apply for counseling services and mortgage assistance at www.877gethope.org.
