Lawrence County deputy conducts traffic stop and makes drug arrest

BEDFORD – A Bloomington man was arrested after a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputy noticed him commit a traffic violation on State Road 37, south of Doc Hamilton Boulevard on Thursday.

William Kriete Jr.

The driver of that vehicle was 39-year-old William Kriete Jr.

While speaking with Kriete the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Kriete admitted to smoking marijuana earlier but police did not find additional drugs during the pat down.

Once officers detained Kriete they conducted a vehicle search and found two burnt marijuana cigarettes. In a compartment of the door, the officers located a small plastic bag that contained crystal meth and a glass pipe was located under the front passenger seat. The pipe also tested positive for meth.

Kriete admitted the meth, marijuana, and paraphernalia were his.

Kriete faces charges of possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
