Marching Stars place 11th in the state competition at Franklin Central High School, six seniors’ last performance

INDIANAPOLIS – The Bedford North Lawrence (BNL) Marching Stars showed their “true colors” by shining like stars on Saturday, October 2, 2022, when they traveled to Franklin Central High School to compete in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Scholastic A State Finals.

They performed their show, “Through the Clouds,” which includes Cyndi Lauper’s Song, “True Colors.” Despite being the smallest band of the 22 competing bands, the Stars’ stellar performance earned them 11th place. This placement is the highest for the Marching Stars at the Scholastic A State Finals according to BNL band director, Jim Jones.

This was the final marching experience for six Marching Stars who will be graduating this year. These seniors gave many hours building their techniques and skills while helping the underclassmen to excel.

For their next event, the Marching Stars will travel to New Orleans, Louisiana over Thanksgiving break through Music Travel. Every four years the band goes on a destination trip and this year happens to be one of those years and New Orleans was chosen as the destination.

The Marching Stars will be given many opportunities to experience the sights and sounds. They will also perform outside of the World War II Memorial.

The BNL Marching Stars would like to thank the Music Boosters, School Administration and staff, student body, and community for their support this marching season.
