Elderly woman shoved while calling 911, arrest made

BEDFORD – A Bedford man was arrested on Saturday after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a 911 call in the 1000 block of Vinegar Hill Road from a woman saying she needed help and then hung up.

Hunter Harris

When officers arrived they spoke to an elderly couple. They said 33-year-old Hunter Harris was “messed up on drugs”. The woman said Harris came into her bedroom and was going through her belongings and found an old commemorative beer and took it. She told the deputies that she called 911 in front of Harris and he shoved her, took the phone and disconnected the 911 call.

Deputies found Harris in a bedroom drinking a beer and smoking a cigarette.

Harris denied allegations of drug use or intimidation. Harris was detained after a brief struggle.

He was transported to the Lawrence County Jail on charges of domestic battery, interfering with reporting a crime, and resisting arrest.
