Washington teen facing charges of rape and strangulation

WASHINGTON – On Saturday, October 15, 2022, officers with the Washington Police Department arrested 18-year-old Miroodchy Celeste, of Washington on two counts of rape, and one count of strangulation.

Celeste is being held on a $250,000 cash bond or ten percent allowed.

The warrant was issued as a result of an investigation worked by detectives earlier this month. Charges against Celeste stem from incidents that occurred between Sept. 16 and Sept. 17, 2022, and involved two victims.

He appeared in court Monday for an initial hearing. Judge Dean Sobecki issued no contact orders preventing Celeste from contacting either victim.

A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Nov. 22, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. in Daviess County Superior Court.
