Toddler injured in bush hog accident

ODON – A 2-year-old male was injured in a bush-hogging accident on Saturday.

Daviess County Sheriff’s Department responded to the farm accident on Saturday around 11 a.m. on County Road 1250 North in Odon.

The caller reported the 2-year-old male had been run over by a bush hog.

Brush hogs or rotary mower are used to mow grazing paddocks or hay field that has gotten too mature. typically attached to the back of a farm tractor or pulled by a horse. The blades are not like lawnmower blades but are on hinges. The rotary blades whack through dense plant growth.

When emergency crews arrived they found the toddler had suffered serious injuries to his legs. He was transported by ambulance to Daviess Community Hospital and then transported to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis.

Police say the child was s riding with his father on a horse-drawn bush hog when he fell off and his feet were caught.

An update on the child’s condition and his name were not released.
