Burr, it’s chilly outside, with possible snow in the forecast

INDIANA – A moderate freeze warning is in effect for Lawrence and surrounding counties for this evening.

The freeze warning is in effect from 10 p.m. on Monday until 10 a.m. on Tuesday. In some cases, a hard freeze may take place.

We could have a chance to see some snowflakes early Tuesday morning. This will be especially true for northern Indiana. Don’t be surprised if some ice pellets or a few flurries.

According to the National Weather Service temperatures could be as low as 26 degrees in Central Indiana. Frost and freezing conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Residents could take precautionary actions and protect plants from the cold.

To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes residents should wrap and drain or allow faucets to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover about-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
