BEDFORD – On Saturday, October 1, the Bedford North Lawrence Marching Stars traveled to the Ben Davis Preview of Champions competition at Ben Davis High School.
They participated in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Scholastic Class A.
The BNL Marching Stars performed their piece entitled “Through the Clouds” composed by Alex Yoder featuring pieces from “Through the Clouds” and “True Colors.” The piece is made up of three parts. Part one is Blue Skies, a bright fanfare that morphs into a minor mode as the clouds gather and darken. In the second part, The Storm a bolt of lightning strikes as the climatic storm appears. Then the finale, part three The Rainbow is when the clouds part and the sun returns, bringing with it one of nature’s most brilliant phenomena – a rainbow.
The Marching Stars won Best Visual and Best General Effect and received First Place with a score of 69.925 for their performance. They outscored the Bloomington South Panther Regiment with a score of 69.175.
You can watch the Marching Stars perform at the ISSMA Scholastic Prelims/Open Class Invitational at Jasper Brewer Stadium in Jasper at 337 West 4th Street on Saturday, October 8th. They will perform their winning performance, “Through the Clouds”. The marching Stars will perform at 2:23 p.m.
