Man arrested after breaking into ex-wife’s home

LAWRENCE CO. – On Friday, September 30th, a woman reported she woke to find her ex-husband had busted in her basement door.

The woman called the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. No address was listed on the probable cause affidavit on where the incident occurred.

Ricky Wagers

When deputies arrived the woman told them that Ricky Wagers’ vehicle was out front and the basement door was busted in. She told police that 59-year-old Wagers was inside the home.

Officers found the basement door had been forced open. Officers looked around the basement and found a locked door to another room. Officers ordered Wagers to come out. Wagers exited the room naked. He was told to get his clothes on and he was asked why he was at the home.

He told the deputies, “the house was his and that she (the victim) had tricked him into signing it over to her”. He said they had been divorced for about 5 years and he had lived in the home until July 4, 2022.

Wagers was arrested on a charge of residential entry. His vehicle was towed by Stone City Towing.
