Attend the Limestone Capital Expo Friday, the kick-off event for the Limestone Capital Half Marathon, 5K & 1 Mile Walk

BEDFORD – Come join the fun during the Limestone Capital Expo Friday, September 30th. The 8th annual event is sponsored by Bedford Federal Savings Bank.

The Limestone Capital Expo is from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Milwaukee Depot building on the corner of J and 14th streets, which will also serve as the starting point and finish for this year’s Limestone Capital Half Marathon, 5K & 1 Mile Walk. The marathon will take place on Saturday. The race is sponsored by McIntyre Bros.

Registration ends on Saturday, October 1st at 8 a.m.

All registrants should come by and pick up their race packet, bag and t-shirt that evening. Free grab-and-go refreshments will be provided like yogurt, cupcakes, granola bars, and freshly popped popcorn. Bedford Federal Savings Bank will be giving away cooling towels and will be providing registrations to win free race-related items. Be sure to stop in and register for a chance to win free knuckle lights, a shoe wallet, running socks, or even get your next year’s race registration paid for.

There will also be music provided by WQRK 105.5 Indiana Classic Hits, and photo opportunities.

Be sure to stop in and register for your chance to win free prizes. You can also register for the race.

The routes are different this year starting at the Milwaukee Depot instead of on 16th Street such as last year, where racers will have the best view of what Lawrence County has to offer.

5K Route

The 5K route will start at the depot and head west on 14th Street, before turning on O Street. Racers will then turn on John Williams Boulevard until reaching T Street. Racers will then turn on 8th Street and again on V Street, where they will then race along 6th Street until they reach J Street. The racers will then finish off the race back at the depot.

The Half Marathon route will also start and finish at the depot, which will offer the best sights of fall and the warmth of small-town hospitality, as racers make their way south towards Transitions Medical, before making their way back up to O Street and finishing the track following the 5K Route.

Half Marathon Route

A Cash purse will be awarded in the half marathon with a special bonus being paid to the top finishing male and female from Lawrence County.  Age group awards will be presented as well.
