Local man vandalizes local laundromat

BEDFORD – A man was arrested after an Indiana State Police trooper responded to an incident on February 15, 2022, at 12:05 p.m.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on that day an Indiana State Trooper took a report from a business owner at The Warsh Room laundromat at 505 West Warren Street in Mitchell. The business owner told the trooper that they had surveillance camera footage of everything that happened.

On the morning of February 15, 2022,  they found that the bathroom door had been damaged.

On the surveillance footage, a male was at the laundromat for about two hours. During that time, the male was identified as 25-year-old Jeremiah Goen, of Bedford.

Goen is seen pulling on the doorknob of the bathroom. He then pulls the bottom corner of the door and the door frame and pulls the door off breaking it in half. He is then seen crawling into the bathroom.  Goen is seen in the footage scratching words into the front of a washing machine.

The damage to the bathroom door and the washing machine was estimated at $3,650. Goen was interviewed at the Lawrence County Jail where he was incarcerated. Goen denied doing the damage. Goen said that there are two people living in Mitchell that look very similar to him, and it was probably one of those individuals. Goen told the trooper that while he was at the laundromat he was wearing a red Nike sweatshirt and a red hat. The male in the video was wearing a black shirt.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Goen’s arrest on a charge of criminal mischief.
