Williams man injured after crashing into a tree

MITCHELL – A Williams man was injured Friday after crashing his vehicle on McFadden Ridge Road at the intersection of Peerless Road.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, the accident happened at 7:42 p.m.

Police say 57-year-old Don Brown, of Williams, was traveling southwest on McFadden Ridge Road in a 1966 Oldsmobile. He told police there was a female near the roadway on his side of the road. He told police he moved over to the left to make sure he didn’t hit the female and then came back to his side of the road. When he corrected his vehicle he ran off the roadway and struck a tree on the north side of the road.

Brown suffered cuts and bruises over his body. Police say he had a “major cut on his forehead” when he hit his head off the windshield. Brown was treated at the scene but refused to be transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Damages were estimated between $25,001 to $50,000.

The vehicle was towed by Stone City Collision.
