MHS’s Elizabeth Gillespie named Genius Jock for the month of September

MITCHELL – Elizabeth Gillespie, a Senior at Mitchell High School, has been named the Genius Jock for the month of September presented by the attorneys at Pittman Law firm, Greg Pittman and Michelle Woodward.

Elizabeth, the daughter of Shannon Gillespie, is an avid athlete participating in Cross Country for four years, Track and Field for three years, and has participated in Martial Arts for over 13 years, while also maintaining a 4.273 GPA. She is the vice president of Key Club and is involved in the Science Olympiad, Envirothon, student council, MHS academic team, honor society, chess club, and Girl Scouts.

When she isn’t on the field or studying, you can find Elizabeth helping coach the Burris Elementary School Robotics team. She previously volunteered during the Junior High after-school program.

Elizabeth was named a Rising Star of Indiana and has earned Scholastic M and the highest distinction honor roll each year from her Freshman through Junior year.

Elizabeth hopes to pursue a degree in Wildlife Biology, where she hopes to get a job in the Wildlife Biology field.
