Mary Louise Abel, 92, of Shoals passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born on August 25, 1929 in Shoals to Richard and Eav Frances (Johnson) Dwyer. She was a graduate of Shoals High School Class of 1947. Mary worked as a homemaker. On June 26, 1949 she married Robert F. Abel.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Loogootee. She loved quilting, reading and spending time with her family. Mary loved cooking and her husband of 73 years, Robert. Mary’s kindness and smile will be dearly missed by all that knew her.
Mary is survived by her husband Robert; one daughter Sheryl and her husband Joe Ogg, of Loogootee; four sons Robert D. and his wife Trish Abel, of Martinsville; Anthony C. and wife Bobbie Abel, of Dover Hill; David and his wife Julia Dwyer, of Destin, Florida and Daniel and Michelle Dwyer, of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren Justin and his wife Nikki Hayden, Aaron and his wife Natalie Hayden, Jade and her husband Steve Sharpe, Jordan and his wife Natalie Abel, Jennifer and her husband Mike Morrison, Joshua Brulla, Jalisa and her husband Gregory Fleitz, Jakob and his wife Carmen Dwyer, Gavin Dwyer, and Grant and his wife Ellie Dwyer; 20 great-grandchildren; brother Jack Dwyer of Plainfield and her sister Helen Sterns, of Fort Wayne, and several nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, one grandson Matthew Hayden, and one sister Virginia Carney.
Cremation was chosen and no services will be held. Burial will be a Spring Hill Cemetery at a later date.
