Lawrence County Council approve a list of transfers and additional appropriations Tuesday evening

LAWRENCE COUNTY – The Lawrence County Council met in regular session Tuesday evening, to approve a list of transfers and additional appropriations to departments in Lawrence County.

The list includes:

  • Emergency Management – $15,000 to cover overtime pay for dispatchers working extra hours due to staff shortage
  • Health Department – A total of $25,000 for the Public Health Emergency Preparedness account
    • $15,000 to go into the Public Health fund for reimbursement
    • $10,000 to go towards additional items
  • Surveyor Corey Allen with BRCJ – $23,000 from the Surveyor’s Cornerstone Perpetuation Fund to purchase new equipment and upgrades
    • $13,000 for new equipment
    • $10,000 to go towards upgrades
  • Highway Department – $50,000 for Bridge 150 to go towards services and engineering payments
  • Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline – $281 to cover law books and payroll needs
  • Lawrence County Coroner – $31,000 to go towards the increase in the cost of travel and operational coverage

Additionally, Bill Spreen from the Fairground Committee put in the request for $14,800 to go towards the replacement of skirt boards and repairs to the Indiana Farm Bureau building. An issue came before the council, as the repairs were to be handled 50/50, with $7,400 being covered by Indiana Farm Bureau.

The request was originally brought before the County Commissioners, who approved the original request of $14,800, without the prior knowledge of the split in cost. This item was tabled for the next meeting, awaiting the amended approval from the Commission.
