APHIS announces new NAPPO Strategic Plan (2022-2026)

INDIANA – On July 13, the North American Plant Protection Organization (NAPPO) Executive Committee approved the new 5-year Strategic Plan (2022-2026). You can view the new Plan and letter of introduction on the NAPPO website.

The new Plan lays out the NAPPO Mission Statement, overarching challenges and opportunities, and strategic goals for the next five years.

We want to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the NAPPO stakeholders who provided feedback on the strategic plan. Because of your input, the new plan will help NAPPO and its member countries focus on its priorities over the next five years.

U.S. stakeholders are vital to the work of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) and the North American Plant Protection Organization (NAPPO). Your input on proposed projects, review of draft standards and documents, and participation in IPPC and NAPPO events ensures we are developing relevant standards that advance U.S. harmonization goals. Standards facilitate the safe trade of plants, plant products, and other regulated articles while protecting the environment, harmonize plant protection policies and practices among and between trading partners in North America and internationally, and provide a critical framework for addressing phytosanitary trade issues and negotiating market access requests.
