Farmers and ranchers can nominate candidates to serve on the Daviess-Martin County Farm Service Agency Committee by August 1

DAVIESS-MARTIN CO. – Kathy Fears, Executive Director for the Daviess-Martin County Farm Service Agency (FSA), is reminding farmers and ranchers they have until August 1, 2022, to nominate candidates to serve on the Daviess-Martin County Farm Service Agency Committee.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) accepts nominations each year in certain Local Administrative Areas (LAAs) for individuals to serve on these locally-led committees.

This year, Daviess-Martin County is accepting nominations for Area 3 which includes Van Buren, Barr, and Reeve townships in Daviess County, and for Area 4 which includes Perry, Rutherford, and parts of Center and Mitcheltree townships that are located North and West of the White River in Martin County.

Individuals may nominate themselves or others and qualifying organizations may also nominate candidates. To be considered, a producer must be registered and sign a nomination form.

Election ballots will be mailed to eligible voters beginning on November 7, 2022.
