Two new part-time deputy marshalls will be patroling Oolitic

OOLITIC – During a special meeting Wednesday night the Oolitic Town Council hired two part-time Deputy Marshalls. Tyler Ogden and Shaun Cabral.

Both will be paid $17.15 an hour and work 20 hours a week.

The town council also approved purchasing five dual-band portable radios for the police department to be used during pursuits and to communicate with other public safety offices. The radios will cost $8,782.

Oolitic Town Council is also considering leasing a Dodge Durango for the department from John Jones, of Salem. The current police vehicle is 14 years old and has to had numerous repairs over the last six months. The town has paid more than $6,000 to keep the vehicle in service.

The Council also voted to give the Oolitic Volunteer Fire Department a 20 percent increase in Local Income Tax money.
