TIPPECANOE COUNTY – Early Friday morning, just after 3:30 a.m., an Indiana State Trooper was patrolling I-65 near the 171-mile marker and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Honda CBR motorcycle driven by 24-year-old Taha Qameruddin of Woodridge, IL, for traveling 110 mph in a 65 mph zone.
Qameruddin failed to stop for the Trooper, and the pursuit continued southbound on I-65 before exciting on State Road 28 after 13 miles on the freeway.
Qameruddin went eastbound on State Road 28 to County Road 600 W and began to drive through a field where Troopers lost sight of him.
Officers on the scene quickly set up a perimeter around the field. Officers located Qameruddin, who appeared to have crashed his motorcycle in the field. Qameruddin was transported to a Lafayette area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Upon being released from the hospital, Qameruddin was transported to Tippecanoe County Jail and arrested on the charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle (Level 6 Felony), aggressive driving (Class A Misdemeanor), and reckless driving (Class C Misdemeanor).
