Slight risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon

INDIANA – According to the National Weather Service, there is a SLIGHT RISK for severe thunderstorms across central Indiana today.

The main threats from storms will be damaging winds, large hail, and brief heavy rain. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Lightning is a threat with any thunderstorm.

The best chances for severe weather are this evening, especially in areas south of Interstate 70 both this afternoon and evening. The best chances for severe weather will be between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

More thunderstorms are possible on Friday afternoon and evening as well as Sunday afternoon and Monday through Tuesday. However, forecasters say it is too soon to determine if these storms will be severe.
