Register for free Zoom Thursday Coffee and Curators: Angel Mounds

INDIANA – The people who built Angel Mounds, an archaeological site in Southern Indiana dating between AD 1075-1425, carefully altered their landscape by building mounds in precise locations that aided viewing of solar, lunar, and celestial events, such as the Summer Solstice sunrise occurring June 21, 2022.

During this free online talk Ed Herrmann, Executive Director of the IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, will focus on new observations that show how the arrangement of mounds relates directly to the movement of the sun, moon, and stars at this important site, and reflects the genius of the site’s builders.
