Spring hiking event at Brownstown Forest

BROWNSTOWN – The Healthy Jackson County physical activity workgroup, in collaboration with Jackson-Washington State Forest, has scheduled a guided hike for 2 p.m. May 22 at Knob Lake Dam at 1278 East State Road 250, in Brownstown.

Jackson-Washington State Forest encompasses nearly 18,000 acres in Jackson and Washington counties in the heart of southern Indiana.

The main forest and office area are located 2.5 miles southeast of Brownstown on State Road 250. This part of the state contains unique topography known as the “knobs,” where visitors can find scenic views.

Anyone is welcome to join the free 2- to 3-mile hike, and it is suggested to bring along a water bottle and dress appropriately, as shoes could get wet on the trails.
