Obituary: Phylliss Iris Parker

October 20, 1934 – May 9, 2022

Phyllis Iris Parker wife of Bernard Parker for 70 years, passed from this life at 6:06 P.M. on Monday, May
9, 2022.

The couple currently lived at Avon Park,  FL.  Born in Lawrence County Indiana,  on October 20, 1934, she was the daughter of Clarence William and Elnora Ann ( Henson) Darcus. She married Bernard Parker on July 14, 1951, at Louisville, Kentucky and they, along with their parents and his five-year-old sister ate bologna sandwiches on the courthouse lawn in Louisville, KY. 

Phyllis is survived by her husband,  Bernard, and two daughters,  Karen Sue Jones of Lawrence County and Lora Lynn Parker of Avon Park,  FL. 3 granddaughters, Rachel Abel of Bedford,  Connie Lynn Kirkman of Salem,  In.  Brookelynn Hope Patton of Avon Park,  FL. One grandson, Daniel King of Elnora, In. and 5 great-grandchildren,  one sister,  Sue
Ann Wilhite of Bedford and several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was preceded in death by their first born daughter, Connie Ann Parker, at the age of 6 years old on Dec. 6, 1960. Two sisters, Wilma Wray of Bedford,  Wanda Callaway of Florida, and one brother,  William Harry Darcus of Lawrence Co.

There will be no public viewing at the mortuary.  Graveside rites will be conducted at Green Hill Cemetery on Wed.  May 18th at 1:00 p.m. Services will be directed by Day and Carter mortuary. Reggie Turner will be officiating at the graveside rites.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the White River Humane Society in Phyllis’ honor.
