Indianapolis man arrested on a charge of OWI causing death

INDIANAPOLIS- After a lengthy investigation into the circumstances of a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on I-70, an Indianapolis man has been arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death.

The crash occurred March 20, 2022 at 4:14 a.m. on I-70 eastbound at the 73.3 mile marker. Trooper Scott Probasco responded to the scene and subsequently was assigned as the primary investigator. Along with ISP Crash Reconstructionists, Probasco determined a Jeep Grand Cherokee, allegedly driven by 31 year old Torriaun Everett of Indianapolis, crashed into the concrete median wall and overturned. Two passengers, along with Everett were in the vehicle and one of those passengers suffered fatal injuries. The deceased man was identified as 32 year old Andre Johnson of Indianapolis.

The investigation was presented to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and led to a warrant being issued for Everett, which was served yesterday. Everett was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail. He faces a level 4 felony charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing death, along with other charges related to operating while intoxicated.
