According to a probable cause affidavit on March 13, 2022, at approximately 11:19 p.m. Mitchell Police officers responded to the 600 block of West Frank Street after a report of a physical domestic fight.

When police arrived, a male told officers his daughter had just been injured by Riley. The woman was bleeding from the top of her head. Police found the woman lying in a chair in the living room, hysterical and crying.

The woman’s mother was applying pressure to the wound. The woman had blood on her face, in her hair, and on her hands. There was also a bruise on the woman’s neck. Police requested an ambulance to the scene.

The male caller told police he was in the living room when he heard screaming coming from the injured woman’s room.

The injured woman told police she and Riley were arguing over a backpack that Riley had given the woman. The woman refused to give the bag to Riley. So he grabbed the woman and dragged her off the bed causing her to hit her head. He then dragged her across the bedroom floor.  Riley then dragged the woman across the bedroom floor and choked her. Another male attempted to intervene but Riley would not stop. He finally stopped but before leaving the room, he hit the woman in the face. Riley then ran out the back door.

The woman requested to file charges against Riley and signed a domestic battery affidavit. Police say this was not the first time the two had been involved in a domestic fight.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Riley’s arrest.
