Two arrested after K9 finds fentanyl

TAYLORSVILLE — A traffic stop led to the discovery of fentanyl and cash after police stop the driver on the suspicion of being intoxicated.

The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy pulled over the vehicle just before 1 a.m. April 8th near US 31 and County Road 500 North.

Deputies say the driver, William Hayes, 27, of Indianapolis, and the passenger, Daron Croom, 31, of Indianapolis, both gave fake names. Police later learned Hayes and Croom both had warrants related to dealing methamphetamine and cocaine.

A police dog found fentanyl and more than $17,000 in cash in the vehicle.

Both men face preliminary charges of false informing and possession of a controlled substance. Hayes faces an additional charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
