Bedford man who is a suspect in more than 25 vehicle thefts arrested in Green County

GREENE CO. – A man was arrested Friday after police say he was involved in more than 25 vehicle thefts in several counties.

At 7 a.m. Friday, deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department were called to investigate a truck and trailer parked in the roadway near County Road 315 North near J&M Recycling in Switz City.

When police arrived they recognized the vehicle as one reported stolen out of Lawrence County on March 31st, where they found 30-year-old Paul Aiden Jones of Bedford sleeping in the vehicle.

Jones was also wanted on warrants out of Jennings County.

Authorities say Jones was arrested after an exhaustive fight with Major George Dallaire and Deputy Harvey Holt of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

Jones was later taken to Greene County Hospital where he was medically cleared before being transported to the Jennings County Jail.

Officer Holt was also treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

Paul Jones is charged with attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, unlawful possession of a syringe, resisting law enforcement, and battery on a public safety official.

More charges are expected as the investigation continues.
