City of Bedford crews will pick up leaves and brush

BEDFORD – If you still have leaves in your yard, the City of Bedford will begin picking up leaves with their vacuum truck beginning on April 4th through approximately April 15th on or about your trash day each week. Alleys with leaves are picked up by calling 812-279-9222.

If you do not mulch your leaves, please rake them in a pile within 3 feet of the curb on your lawn. It’s important to note that leaves should not be left on meter lids, too close to trash toters, or piled in the street. Leaves clog storm drains which can create flood situations for your area.

Leaves and yard waste can be placed in toters year-round. Leaves inside the toter should be left unbagged.

The automated compost truck is currently in service and toters must be placed near the street to be picked up. The green toters will be picked up automatically on your trash day each week through November 4, 2022.

Toters are available with the trash utility and the residents can share the cost of the toter which is $26. To get a toter call 279-9222.
