Man burglarizes home, resells items and is arrested

BEDFORD – A Jonesville man was arrested after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies received a report on November 15, 2021, of a theft in the 7060 block of River Road. 

The caller reported his home had been broken into and items were missing.

Police say whoever broke into the home had laid on the resident’s bed. DNA samples were taken. 

On November 16, 2021, police spoke to the homeowner who told police the items stolen from his home were being sold on Facebook Marketplace under the name of Scott Brown.

Officers were able to track the seller to Jonesville at the home of 42-year-old Jeramiah Scott Brown. Officers secured a search warrant for Brown’s home.

Officers served that warrant on December 1, 2021. Officers found numerous items stolen from the home in Bedford including an iron bed, two rocking chairs, a table, a mirror, and other items.

Brown was not at the residence at the time the search warrant was served. The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of burglary and theft.
