Obituary: Carl David Armstrong

December 1, 1950 – March 16, 2022

Carl David Armstrong, 71, of Evansville, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at his home.

Born December 1, 1950, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Cecil and Margaret (Spreen) Armstrong. Carl was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1968 and from the University of Evansville with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as an engineer for the Crane Naval Weapons Support Center until his retirement. Post-retirement, he enjoyed tutoring college mathematics students in Bloomington and Evansville. He was a Life Master Bridge player and participated in tournaments throughout the country. He will be remembered for his brilliant intellect, generosity, and humble spirit.

Survivors include a sister, Jean Williams; a brother, James D. Armstrong; a niece, Lisa Webb, and husband, Allen; a nephew, John A. Williams, Jr., and wife, Tracy, all of Bedford; two great-nephews, Alexander Webb, and wife,
Olivia and Andrew Webb and wife, Jordan; two great-nieces, Margaret Williams, of Bedford and Liza (Williams) Gouty and husband, A.J., of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, John A. Williams.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, March 23 rd at Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford with Rev. Wayne Neeley officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Wednesday, at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
