Obituary: William Leslie Corya


December 29, 1939 – March 17, 2022

William Leslie Corya, 82, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at his residence after a short illness.

Born December 29, 1939, in Bedford, he was the son of Harry and Mildred (Parham) Corya. He married Lynda Kirkman on January 19, 1962, and she survives. He was a graduate of Oolitic High School, Purdue University, and Indiana University. He retired in 2010, after 43 years of service, from Purdue University as the Assistant Director of the University Libraries. He loved the Lord and his family. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, especially furniture. He was a member of the River City First Assembly of God in Lafayette.

Survivors include his wife, Lynda, of Lafayette; a daughter, Lezlie Peabody, and husband, Mike, of Lafayette; a son, William Eric Corya and wife, Christine, of Brownsburg; grandchildren, Cory (Erin) Peabody, Kyle (Lindsey)
Peabody, Evan Peabody, and Ethan (Morgan) Peabody all of Lafayette, Brogan Corya, of Zionsville, and Dalton Corya, of Brownsburg; five great-grandchildren, Hadley, Piper, Scout, Molly, and Natalie Peabody, and two on the way; a sister, Becky Buher and husband, Jim, of Bedford; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26th at Springville Christian Cemetery with Jim Buher officiating.
