Store Asset Protection nabs woman at the self check out for faulty scans

BEDFORD – On Friday a Bedford woman was arrested when Bedford Police officers were requested to respond to Walmart after store security stopped her for failing to scan a tube of toothpaste.

Store Asset Protection stopped 39-year-old Tanarra Fargo after watching her on security footage failing to scan the tube of toothpaste and other items including a bag of dog food, cotton candy, perfume, makeup, and bandanas.

After Fargo finished with her transaction she rendered payment, failing to pay for the unscanned merchandise. The total amount paid was $42.79, including tax. The theft retail valaue was $117.84, pre-tax. 

Police spoke to Fargo and she was trespassed by Walmart. She told officers she forgot to scan the dog food that was in the front of her cart. She told police she was holding multiple items and didn’t realize they had not been scanned. 

Police then learned Fargo had previous convictions of theft, one being from Walmart.

She was then placed in handcuffs and arrested. While at the jail, staff members found a vape pen containing marijuana.

Fargo faces charges of possession of marijuana and theft.
