Expect S.R. 37 traffic shift in Marion County, lane closures in Morgan County

INDIANA – As temperatures and daylight continue to increase, drivers should watch for more I-69 Finish Line construction activity and some major traffic changes in Marion and Morgan counties.

Marion County
The process to permanently close Edgewood Avenue at State Road 37 will begin on or after this Friday, March 11 with Edgewood Avenue closing west of S.R. 37.

The permanent closure of Edgewood Avenue east of S.R. 37 and temporary closure of Belmont Avenue south of Epler Avenue are expected in early April. Drivers will access Belmont Avenue from the south using Banta Road or Southport Road. Belmont Avenue is expected to reopen late this year after being realigned for the future I-69 lanes and Epler Avenue interchange.

Beginning on or after Tuesday, March 15, northbound S.R. 37 traffic will cross the center median from Stop 11 Road/Belmont Avenue to Epler Avenue. Two-way traffic will share the west side of S.R. 37 for approximately 2 miles, separated by temporary barriers.

Drivers should expect temporary lane closures in the coming days between 9 a.m. and 5 a.m. as the road is restriped and the traffic pattern is put into place. Two lanes will be open northbound for the morning commute.

Drivers should also be on alert for utility crews along Epler Avenue west of S.R. 37 as they install new service lines to clear the way for future construction. Epler Avenue is expected to close midyear west of S.R. 37 for construction of the I-69 lanes and bridges.

Martinsville
Cramertown Loop south of S.R. 252 is expected to close on or after Monday, March 14.  The closure will allow crews to replace a drainage structure and rebuild a section of the road. Access will be maintained for homes in this area.

Access to the Grand Valley Shoppes is from Mahalasville Road/Artesian Avenue or the South Street/Grand Valley Boulevard bridge over I-69.

Work is also scheduled to begin Monday to complete the S.R. 39/Morton Avenue roundabout at Rogers Road and the I-69 southbound ramps. Drivers should expect traffic shifts in the area as crews begin their work.

The left lanes of S.R. 37 in both directions are closed between Martinsville and the Banta Road signal for the safety of motorists and workers. The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph.

Crews are working six days per week as weather, sunlight, materials, equipment and other construction factors permit. Ongoing work to complete I-69 construction includes removing temporary crossovers, earthmoving, placing crushed stone and installation of cable barriers and railings. The lane closures are expected to be removed by late April.
