BEDFORD – Notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of Shawswick and Guthrie Townships both of Lawrence County, Indiana, that a joint public hearing will be held before the Shawswick and Guthrie Township Boards on Monday, March 7, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. at the Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department Station, 1327 Sunny Acre Dr, Bedford, IN 47421 to consider proposed ordinances and resolutions for the establishment of the Shawswick Fire Protection Territory beginning with taxes payable in 2023.
Another joint public hearing of the Shawswick and Guthrie Township Boards is planned for Monday, March 21, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. also at the Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department Station, 1327 Sunny Acre Dr, Bedford, IN 47421.
On Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the 6:30 p.m. meeting, the Shawswick and Guthrie Township Boards will vote to either adopt, reject, or table the ordinances and resolutions for the establishment of the Shawswick-Guthrie Fire Protection Territory. If enacted, the proposed ordinance and resolution will establish the Shawswick-Guthrie Fire Protection Territory between the Shawswick Township (Provider Unit) and Guthrie Township (Participating Unit) will provide for a uniform tax rate within the territory.
The proposed budget, property tax levy, and rate for the Fire Protection Territory for the next year are shown below. Proposed levies represent maximum amounts. Tax rates are estimates and could vary based on certified net assessed values.
