Tobias Simmerman

Police officers arrested 30-year-old Tobias Simmerman on that warrant on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Mitchell Police officers responded to a home in the 410 block of Rabbitsville Road after a report from a woman that Simmerman had been following her and was violating a protective order.

The woman reported Simmerman began following her in July 2021, causing her to be fearful so she went to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department to report the incidents. She was told to seek a protective order and Simmerman was served that order on July 28, 2021.

The court order stated Simmerman could only contact the woman via an app called close.app. SImmerman was also advised that the app would be monitored by the court.

The woman told police Simmerman refused to comply with the court order and would contact her via Facebook and texting.

The woman told police she attempted to block him, but Simmerman would use other phone numbers to contact her. She finally changed her cell phone number to prevent him from harassing her.

The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Simmerman’s arrest.
