WHITE CO. – The Indiana State Police is providing the following information for the visitation and funeral service in honor of Sgt. Stephanie Thompson and her daughter, Mya Thompson.
Sgt. Stephanie Thompson and her 17-year-old daughter, Mya, died in the fire on Feb. 17 at their home. Stephanie Thompson was a 23-year state police veteran, who had received the department’s Lifesaving Award and a Letter of Commendation Award during her career.
Mya Thompson was a star swimmer at Twin Lakes High School, competing in the state finals earlier this month as a junior. She also played tennis for her school and was part of the National Honor Society and the White County 4-H.
The public visitation for Sgt. Thompson and Mya will be 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022, in the main gym at Twin Lakes High School, 300 3rd Street, Monticello, IN 47960.
The funeral will be Friday, February 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the main gym at Twin Lakes High School, 300 3rd Street, Monticello, IN 47960. Any police officers planning on attending are asked to arrive by 10:00 a.m. At the conclusion of the funeral, Sgt. Thompson and Mya will be escorted to IOOF Riverview Cemetery, 1441 Riverview Road, Monticello, IN.
The procession route to IOOF Riverview Cemetery from Twin Lakes Senior High School is as follows:
- Twin Lakes High School. 300 3rd Street, Monticello, IN 47960
- Ohio Street to 3rd Street
- Left on 3rd Street to Harrison Street
- Right on Harrison Street to Main Street
- Left on Main Street to US 24
- Right on US 24 to Washington Street
- Right Washington Street
- Left to continue on Washington Street, which turns into Riverview Road
- Continue on Riverview Road to IOOF Riverview Cemetery
The procession will pass under a Garrison Flag, which will be located at the intersection of Harrison Street and Illinois Street.
