Bloomington man arrested on an attempted murder charge

BLOOMINGTON – On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 1:16 a.m. Bloomington Police officers responded to the 1300 block of North Arlington Park Drive, recently renamed The Reserve at Chandler’s Glen after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting several shots fired in the parking lot area of the apartment complex.

Upon the arrival of officers, several people were outside but refused to cooperate with the investigation or provide any information about who was responsible for the shooting. Officers were unable to locate any victims but did locate a parked vehicle with what appeared to be a bullet hole in the rear bumper.

On Thursday, January 20th, investigators returned to the area and were able to locate several spent 9mm shell casings. Further, investigators were able to review surveillance footage from the apartment complex. The footage showed a man and a woman in a physical altercation, then showed the man firing a weapon multiple times at the female as she ran through the parking lot. The shooter then fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

Investigators were able to eventually identify the shooting suspect as 25-year-old Travis L. Holmes of Bloomington. On Thursday, January 27th at approximately 1:50 p.m. Holmes was located in an apartment in the 1300 block of West 12th Street and was taken into custody without incident.

After an interview, Travis Holmes was transported to the Monroe County Jail and remanded to jail custody on felony charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and criminal recklessness. His bond is set at $250,000.
