Muncie man arrested for possession of child pornography

MUNCIE – On Tuesday morning, January 11, 2022, Detectives from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children task force arrested a Muncie man for Possession of Child Pornography and Child Molestation.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received a report from Google, Inc. on January 10, 2022. The report advised Google had flagged an account that contained child sexual abusive material (CSAM) as well as videos/photos which depicted possible abuse of children. The tip was sent to ISP Detectives who applied for and were granted a search warrant which identified the suspect as Justin Potts, 37 years old, of Muncie.

ISP units went to Mr. Pott’s residence where he was located and were interviewed regarding the material. During the interview, Mr. Pott’s admitted to possessing the files reported by Google, Inc.

Records indicate Mr. Potts is a registered sex offender and was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor in 2014.

Justin Potts was transported to the Delaware County Jail and charged with the following:

  • 35-42-4-4 Possession of Child Pornography (Level 4 Felony)
  • 35-42-4-3 Chile Molest (Level 5 Felony)

Assisting Indiana State Police was the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Department, and the Delaware County Prosecutors Office.
