Two suspects arrested following early morning pursuit on I-65

SEYMOUR -Early Friday morning, two suspects were arrested on numerous charges after fleeing a traffic stop conducted by an Indiana State Trooper on I-65 in Jackson County, Indiana.

The incident began shortly after 2:00 am when Trooper Taylor Ranshaw conducted a traffic stop on a 2017 Jaguar on I-65, just south of Seymour for a traffic violation.  During the traffic stop, Trp. Ranshaw observed indicators of criminal behavior in the vehicle.  The driver also requested an ambulance for the passenger in the vehicle.  Trp. Ranshaw requested an ambulance and officers from the Seymour Police Department to respond to assist.

While waiting for Seymour Officers to arrive, the driver of the vehicle, Lavonte, C. Conn, 28, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the passenger, Aundrea L. Rodgers, 23, of Montgomery, Alabama fled from the scene in the vehicle.  Conn fled at a high rate of speed southbound on I-65, eventually entering Scott County, Indiana.

Conn traveled south of Scottsburg, Indiana where the vehicle eventually struck a tire deflation device placed on the roadway before crashing near the 27-mile marker.  Both Conn and Rodgers were taken into custody at the scene.

Conn was transported to the Jackson County Jail where he was incarcerated on charges of resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a handgun without a permit, and obstruction of justice.  Rodgers was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an out-of-state warrant.

Both were incarcerated pending their initial appearances in court.

Troopers from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post were assisted by Troopers from the Indiana State Police-Sellersburg Post, Seymour Police Department, Scott County Sheriff’s Department, and other law enforcement agencies in Jackson and Scott Counties.
