Christopher P. Roberts, 47, Heltonville, faces a Level 6 felony charge of theft after Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney Samuel C. Arp II requested the Indiana State Police conduct an investigation into the allegations against Roberts in March 2020.

The investigation was completed and, at Mr. Arp’s request, information was forwarded to Mr. Thomas, an out-of-town senior prosecutor, for review and charging decisions in order to avoid any speculation of impropriety.

Roberts was summoned into Lawrence Superior Court I, where he will have an initial hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021.
