WELLS CO. – An early afternoon crash on State Road 124 near County Road 700 East claimed two lives Tuesday in Wells County.

At approximately 2:19 p.m. on November 3, the crash occurred on State Road 124 near County Road 700 East in Wells County. It has been determined that the silver Buick Rainier driven by 23-year-old Jacqueline Cerna Espinoza, of Bluffton, was traveling westbound on State Road 124 when she ran off the roadway to the right, over-corrected, crossed the centerline, and collided with the blue 2007 Ford driven by 52-year-old Brian Stoner, of Berne.  Evidence gathered also determined Stoner to be traveling eastbound on State Road 124.

Stoner and Espinoza were both pronounced deceased at the scene by the Wells County Coroner. Stoner and Espinoza were the sole occupants of each vehicle.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be factors in this crash.  State Road 124 was closed for approximately 3 hours for the crash investigation and removal of vehicles.
