FDA to host virtual New Era Food Safety Summit on E-Commerce

The FDA is taking a new approach to food safety, leveraging technology and other tools and approaches to create a safer and more digital, traceable food system. The ultimate goal is to bend the curve of foodborne illness in this country by reducing the number of illnesses.

The New Era of Smarter Food Safety blueprint, announced in July 2020, outlines achievable goals to enhance traceability, improve predictive analytics, respond more rapidly to outbreaks, address new business models, reduce contamination of food, and foster the development of stronger food safety cultures.

The FDA New Era Food Safety Summit on E-Commerce will take place virtually from October 19-21, 2021. This event is designed to help the FDA improve its understanding of how human and animal foods are sold through Business to Consumer (or B2C for short) e-commerce models across the U.S. and globally.

Speaker and panelist bios are now available for the FDA New Era of Smarter Food Safety Summit on E-Commerce: Ensuring the Safety of Foods Ordered Online and Delivered Directly to Consumers.

There is no cost to attend the summit, but registration is required. Register for this event online
